Training

Solomatsizbuh, Hi everyone. I am in Bishkek at an internet cafe. We started training two days ago and have been learning about the language, culture, and general PC safety/security.  We are out using internet and buying flowers for our host families. We will meet them today at a ceremony and go home with them.  There will be a lot of pantomiming going on on my part.

There are 4 other teacher trainers and 4 university TEFL volunteers. We have been having language classes together at the hotel we’ve been staying at. Starting tomorrow, we will meet in our smaller groups. The classes have two teachers, and they only speak in Kyrgyz (the language I am learning). The teachers (LCFs) model the words or conversations for us, and we take notes and practice. Most of what we’ve learned is to get us through the host family meeting.

I should go a few people are waiting for the internet!

  1. Wow. Sounds like Internet time will be hard to come by. I hope that language learning is fun and not frustrating for you. I also hope you had a Happy Easter! and will be able to post again soon. :)
